What does PowerOutage.us return?

Documented fields (product page, not an API schema): customers tracked, customers out, utility, state, county and city, GeoJSON outage shapes from utilities, and timestamps at 10-minute intervals. Coverage claimed: 94 percent of US electric customers, 95 percent Canada, 89 percent UK. Historical data partly back to 2016.

What can you derive from it?

1. Outage severity by county: customers out as a share of customers tracked, refreshed every 10 minutes. 2. Long-duration outage: counties still above a threshold after 24 or 48 hours, which drives generator, food loss and water damage demand. 3. Utility reliability score: outage minutes per customer per year by utility from history. 4. Storm aftermath confirmation: outage spikes that confirm a weather event actually hit infrastructure. 5. Repeat-outage zones: counties with frequent multi-hour outages, a standby generator sales territory.

How would a GTM team use it?

1. PE screen: rank counties by historical outage hours to choose markets for a standby generator dealer roll-up. 2. Revenue trigger: when a county passes 25 percent of customers out for 12 hours, launch generator and restoration campaigns there. 3. Diligence: test whether a generator target's sales track outage history in its territory. 4. Monitoring: alert a portco's operations lead when outages hit its service area so crews and call centres can staff up. 5. Content demo: chart a hurricane's outage curve next to generator dealer search interest.

What are the caveats?

Not a native Clay integration as of 2026-10-17 (checked against Clay's integrations catalog). Can be called through Clay's HTTP API column where an API exists. poweroutage.us blocked requests from this VPS; the sister site poweroutage.com was read instead. Data is scraped from utility outage maps, so coverage and accuracy depend on each utility; some co-ops and municipal utilities are missing. Customer counts are meters, not people. Outage Pro (outage-pro.com) is a separate competitor. Terms of use likely limit redistribution; read them before using in client deliverables.
