Maxar (now Vantor): what it returns, and whether it works in Clay

Maxar (now Vantor) is not available in Clay. It is best for Content demo, Diligence. Pricing: Paid self-serve. Access: API (STAC Discovery, ordering, streaming) and web platform (MGP Pro); self-service purchase through Vantor Connect and SkyFi (third-party marketplace). Paid, quote-based; pricing not published on developer docs (unknown); per-square-kilometre archive prices are visible on SkyFi listings (third-party). Imagery is licensed under the Vantor EULA, with redistribution limits. Not anonymised; it is raw imagery..

What does Maxar (now Vantor) return?

Official fields: STAC item id; collection; title; datetime; geometry; eo:cloud_cover (whole image strip); area:cloud_cover_percentage and area:avg_off_nadir_angle (returned only when area-based-calc=true); view:off_nadir (0 to 90 degrees); view:azimuth; view:incidence_angle; view:sun_azimuth; view:sun_elevation; assets (browse, data, cloud mask). Imagery products: 30 cm class WorldView and GeoEye optical imagery, Vivid basemaps, Precision3D elevation. MGP Pro online imagery guideline (reseller doc): cloud cover limit 50 percent at the equator and 35 percent elsewhere, off-nadir 0 to 35 degrees.

What can you derive from it?

1. Site activity change: compare two dates over a plant, port or distribution centre to see new buildings, stockpiles, container yards or parked fleets. 2. Capacity build-out: footprint growth at a facility suggests capex that precedes hiring and new vendor spend. 3. Facility verification: confirm that a target's listed plants exist and are roughly the size claimed. 4. Disruption detection: flood, fire or congestion visible at a supplier or customer site. 5. Competitor footprint: count and size the physical sites of a competitor set.

How would a GTM team use it?

1. Diligence: order archive imagery over every facility in a target's CIM and check footprint and activity before the management meeting. 2. PE screen: run quarterly change detection over portfolio company sites and flag expansions or idle lots. 3. Revenue trigger: for industrial services clients, start outreach to companies whose sites show new construction. 4. Competitive watch: archive-search a competitor's sites every month and alert when fresh imagery shows change. 5. Market map: map all facilities in a region for a category (cold storage, data centres) and rank by size.

What are the caveats?

Not a native Clay integration as of 2026-10-17 (checked against Clay's integrations catalog). Can be called through Clay's HTTP API column where an API exists. Maxar Intelligence renamed itself Vantor on 30 September 2025; docs still live at maxar.com. eo:cloud_cover describes the whole strip, not your AOI, unless area-based calculation is on. Satellite shows change, not cause: more trucks in a yard does not prove more revenue, and counting objects needs an analyst or model. Optical imagery is blocked by cloud and revisit depends on tasking and archive. No people-level data. Google Maps in Clay provides place details and street imagery, not satellite change detection.
